Voices NC

Douglas Jessop

I am a social justice advocate which started from unlawful incarceration. I have worked on proposals for $200 Million dollars for the city of Los Angeles and currently working on $600 million dollar proposal on Governor Newsom resiliency and equity fund to build businesses from the bottom up. Invited to classes with UCLA, USC and MIT just to name a few. Filed court cases in California Supreme Court that went En Banc and further. Featured on LA Times, Fox News and reports by ACLU for systemic reform.

The amount of entertainers, executives at the highest positions I have worked with has been an honor. I look forward to bringing that to the table and being the advocate this city needs.

I am a musician and currently in Artist Development with Leila Steinberg. She is the original manager and mentor for 2pac Shakur. Spirituality is central to my being and I am also on the Sunday School Presidency at my Church.

I want to provide resources and ensure the community voices are heard. My favorite thing to do is let the community know they have true and genuine power. That you are just as valuable as the richest corporations. Favorite place to eat are the Taco stands.

3 issues I am passionate about in our community:
  • Community and economic development
  • Proper representation and inclusivity - across the board
  • Innovation with our most problematic concerns - police corruption, systemic discrimination and further.
