Voices NC Seeking Local Artists for Electrical Box Project - Deadline to Apply 11/18/22!

The Voices Neighborhood Council of South Central Los Angeles, is seeking Artists to help give color to the local utility boxes. Voices will be accepting applications of individual artists or groups of artists through November 18, with a deadline of 5 p.m., applicants are invited to submit up to three conceptual renderings for consideration. The Neighborhood Council is awarding a $750 stipend to six artists or groups to showcase their work with the community. Artists will be selected by the Beautification, Outreach and Programming (BOP) Committee based on established criteria such as appropriateness of scale, form and content, as well as artistic excellence in the theme of community. Stipend does not include cost of supplies.  Deadline to apply is November 18, 2022.

Our second annual Summer Saturdays Extravagnza comes to a close this coming Saturday with Movie Night at the Park.  We will be featuring Disney's "Soul". 

Saturday, September 24, 2022 from 6:00pm - 9:00pm at Vermont Square Park (1248 W. 47th St).

Please see flyer for the details.  We will have yard games, snacks provided by 7Eleven, pizza, create an art journal, face painting and more.  Fun for the entire family!  We will also have a raffle with prizes donated by The Giving Hand. All freebies while supplies last.
Be sure to bring a blanket and chairs.  Movie starts promptly at 7:00pm.

The Leimert Park Jazz Festival seeks newly created, original, two-dimensional artwork on canvas that visually depicts the vibrancy of jazz music, jazz culture, and the Leimert Park community. Artwork should be innovative, engaging, and visually expressive of the Leimert Park community and its jazz legacy. Electronically produced artwork will be disqualified. The winning artwork will become the commemorative poster for the 2022 Festival.  See flyer for details.

We are having our first Community Clean Up Day on Saturday, March 19th at Augustus Hawkins High School on 60th Ave. between Vermont Ave. and Hoover St. (see attached flyer).  There will be refreshments and lunch served to participates. 
Below is our schedule. We also can offer service hours to students.  Our partners include CD9, 7Eleven, CRCD, 77th Street Community Police Station.

Schedule below:

9:00am - 9:30am - Meet and greet with some light refreshments (coffee/donuts/water) provided by 7Eleven

9:30am - 11:30am - Clean up the streets around the school on 60th/Menlo, Hoover/Vermont.

11:30am - 12:00pm - Meet back at the high school for lunch (catering by Served2Enjoy for 75 participants)

12:00pm - Say goodbye :)
