Neighborhood Purpose Grants

In August 2020, we awarded $2,800 to TRUST SLA to held support their weekly meal program and also a small Covid-19 relief fund for residents to have quick access to cash for laundry, gas/transportation, and or other small finance support matters. 

T.R.U.S.T. South LA is a 15-year-old community-based effort that works to stabilize the neighborhoods in South L.A., where increased property values and rents have pushed out many long-term residents. Our mission is to serve as a steward for community-controlled land; to be a catalyst for values-driven, community-serving development; to build awareness and community leadership in issues of housing, transportation and recreation; and to create programs and initiatives that encourage community building and economic opportunity. In that way, we are an advocacy, policy and community organizing group that wants South L.A to meet its potential. We work with and service residents all over CD8 and CD9. We are also part of the Healthy L.A Coalition that pushed for the current moratorium on evictions and a halt to DWP shutting off any family’s utilities.
